INTERGEO 2023

INTERGEO Oct. 10-12, 2023︱Berlin, Germany

INTERGEO stands as the premier global trade fair and the foremost international congress platform for geodesy, geoinformation, and land management. Held from October 10-12 in Berlin, Germany, INTERGEO served as a focal point for the geospatial community, facilitating networking opportunities with industry users. This year, the event attracted nearly 17,000 trade visitors from 112 nations, along with 571 exhibitors representing over 40 countries. Moreover, it featured over 300 speakers and 841 conference participants from 42 countries. AISPECO undoubtedly made a significant impression at this year’s exhibition, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere and advancing discussions within the geospatial sector.

Six members of the AISPECO team attended the INTERGEO exhibition this year. Visitors had the opportunity to meet them at HALL 25 (BOOTH A25.07) during the INTERGEO Expo and Conference. In our booth, visitors could explore two AISPECO geospatial data collection platforms: HELIUX MAX and HELIUX LITE, and learn more about the features and advantages of these systems.

The Economics of a Sensor Owner

At the INTERGEO Expo and Conference, Mantas Vaskela, our CEO, and Jared E. Martin, CMS-Lidar, CP, CST from BAAM.Tech, our US distributor, jointly presented a seminar titled “The Economics of a Sensor Owner.” Their objective was to provide attendees with valuable insights into the economic implications of sensor ownership and to illustrate real-world utilization scenarios. By doing so, Mantas Vaskela and Jared E. Martin aimed to empower sensor owners to make informed decisions that enhance profitability and operational efficiency. The seminar offered a unique opportunity to share insights and real utilization data, strengthening our partnerships and contributing to the advancement of the industry.

Insights from the exhibition

Emerging Chinese Technologies: Notably, we observed the growing prominence of Chinese technology. In contrast to 2022, where such advancements were less conspicuous, this year, Chinese LiDAR and oblique cameras are coming to spotlight. The level and quality of these products will be determined by users, but it’s undeniable that the competitive landscape is becoming more challenging.

Smaller is becoming bigger: From Teledyne introducing the new CL360HD2 and Riegl expanding their range of unmanned and light-manned solutions – it’s obvious that more and more players are looking for smaller solutions for “bigger than drone smaller than plane” projects.

Exponential Growth of the Expo: INTERGEO 2023 marked a significant milestone as it was the largest one yet. It was a delightful experience to reconnect with familiar faces and new contacts, especially after the challenges posed by the COVID-19.

The Global Perspective: The trend of international expansion is becoming the norm. Conversations we had with various companies underscored their interest in enhancing the versatility and flexibility of their equipment. This is driven by the increasing number of players looking to expand beyond their native borders. Companies from the US were discussing European operations, while European companies were considering expansion into the US and Asian markets, and the Indian companies were seeking partnerships for European operations. It seems cross-border operations are becoming more prevalent in industry than ever before.

The Era of Sensor Fusion: Notably, sensor fusion is on the rise, with Vexcel introducing integrated aerialcameras with LiDAR technology. This development underscores the industry’s commitment to diversifying data types and expanding the options for sensor deployment. Coupled with the trend mentioned in point 2, this expansion indicates that data users will soon benefit from a wider array of data types and enhanced availability.
